Message	for 15 mins or so after the engine has been turned off to make sure all the oil has run down into the pan. Pull the dipstick out, wipe it clean, reinsert and check oil level. If you try checking oil with the engine running, or right after turning it off you won't get an accurate reading, and there will be oil all up the inside of the dipstick tube.
